Vice President, Legal Operations, Veoneer
Eric Swanson is currently Vice President, Legal Operations at Veoneer, a worldwide leader in automotive technology, committed to Creating Trust in Mobility. Based at the North American Technical Center in Southfield, Michigan USA, he leads a global team of lawyers supporting Veoneer’s technical centers and manufacturing plants worldwide. His team provides support and strategy for topics including product safety/recall, regulatory compliance and reporting, contract negotiations, supply chain issues, M&A, labor/employment matters, and litigation. Veoneer was formed in 2018 as the result of a spin-off of the safety electronics business of Autoliv, the largest manufacturer of airbags and seatbelts to the automotive industry.
Eric has 19 years of direct experience working as a lawyer in the automotive industry. Prior to joining Veoneer at the time of its spin-off, Eric held various positions in the Autoliv Legal Department dating back to 2002, including Senior Director, Product Safety & Regulatory (global); as well as Associate and Assistant General Counsel roles. Before joining Autoliv, Eric was Senior Associate Attorney in the Bloomfield Hills, Michigan-based law firm of Duffy & Robertson, P.C., where he represented closely held companies in a variety of matters including corporate transactions and commercial litigation.
Eric received his J.D., cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law and his B.A., with honors, in Political Science and Criminal Justice (double major) from the University of Michigan-Flint. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals (6th Circuit), the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and is a member of the State Bar of Michigan. Eric resides in the metro-Detroit area with his wife and three daughters.
